Mutianyu, Beijing, China: November 9th, 2023
Follow along as I explore Mutianyu, a small village just outside of Beijing and at the base of one picturesque section of the Great Wall of China. Revel in the stunning landscape and catch a glimpse of the imposing Wall originally built in the mid-6th century with upgrades in 1404, 1568, and 1984. Most pictures were taken with my Fujifilm X-T200, a few were with my iPhone, all were slightly edited using Adobe Lightroom.
The old man said hello and then chuckled to himself as he walked up the hill.
Up the alley across from our guest house.
Gets lots of use in the summer, not so much in the winter.
A parking spot, but that branch probably should be removed.
A lone builder amongst the construction.
Out across the rooftops to the mountain tops.
The wall snakes along the horizon.
Down into the valley. Stunning views.
Is it me or does that ridge line look like George Washington taking a nap?
A gate house in the pass.
Down the small alleyway, back out into the main village.
But first, a little detour to this even smaller alley.
Up the hill to our guest house.
Down the hill from our guest house.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this contraption was, but there were a few fish in the cistern.
Looking up at the Wall from the parking lot of two restaurants.
An overgrown walkway.
Another steep alley.
Formerly American owned restaurants.
A building in need of investment.
A hauling scooter, aging, and left in the sun.
An over look at midday.
The local version of the Woodlawn Store.
More from the overlook.
Knock Knock.
An s-curve that reminds me of Bloomfield, KY.
An area guest house.
A shot down the mountain.
A talking bird. Said 'Ni-hao' way too many times, but only if you weren't looking.
The mountainside over top of the guest houses and businesses that line the road.
Back down that s-curve.
This dog growled at me earlier. But was passed out this time around.
A black and white view of the wall along the ridge.
The sun sets over the valley below.
The wall snaking along the ridge line.
Over the guest houses and beyond the cement truck, George naps.
Back down the hill in the morning sun.
The ridge line forming the backdrop is illuminated by the morning sun.
The morning vista back across the valley.
A statue of someone under the morning's clear blue sky.
