Liverpool Echo LFC Jury—11-11-22

Liverpool with four wins in a row

Liverpool ended the first portion of the season with four wins in a row

This excerpt is from the fourth installment of the season-long LFC Jury with the Liverpool Echo. It appeared on November 11th, 2022.

If Liverpool walk away victors after hosting Southampton on Saturday afternoon, fans will be riding high into the six-week World Cup break. Four wins on the trot - something the club hasn’t been able to do all season.

Most of the starters were rested for the midweek Carabao Cup match, though Firmino, Nunez, and Elliott all made cameo appearances. It was good to see the kids getting a chance to play in front of the home crowd. They couldn’t find a goal but gave a good account of themselves, Doak and Ramsay in particular.

But there’s also the elephant in the room: FSG’s interest in selling bigger portions of the club has been the catalyst for a lot of conversation. What FSG’s intentions are, is anyone’s guess. Whatever they end up doing, some in the fanbase, myself included, will likely continue asking for more investment in recruitment – especially in the midfield. If that means selling a portion of their stake to fund signing a player like Jude Bellingham, then so be it.
